Ramsay Bowden, PhD
Research Coordinator
Ramsay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge and an Honorary Consultant in Clinical Genetics at Cambridge University Hospitals. Ramsay studied medicine at the University of Cambridge qualifying in 2010. She went on to undertake specialist training in clinical genetics at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
In 2016 she was awarded a Wellcome Clinical Research Fellowship to study for a PhD under the supervision of Professor Steve Jackson at the Gurdon Institute, University of Cambridge. Through her research, Dr Bowden developed large scale genetic interaction screening techniques to identify new therapeutic targets in genetic disease. She returned to a clinical academic role in 2021 and in 2023 was appointed Locum Assistant Professor and Honorary Consultant in Medical Genetics. Working with Professor Serena Nik-Zainal, her research aims to maximise the clinical utility of cancer whole genome sequencing data in early diagnosis and treatment targeting. She has a particular interest in DNA repair disorders and is delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Bloom Syndrome community.
